Pro-Wrestler Chris Benoit Killed Family
ATLANTA (AP) -- A law enforcement official close to the investigation tells The Associated Press that pro wrestler Chris Benoit strangled his wife and smothered his son before hanging himself in his weight room.
Pro wrestler Chris Benoit canceled a pay-per-view appearance at the "Vengeance" event in Houston because of "personal reasons" a day before he, his wife and their 7-year-old son were found dead.
Investigators believe Benoit killed his wife, 43-year-old Nancy, and son Daniel during the weekend and then himself Monday. The bodies were found Monday afternoon in three separate rooms of the house, off a gravel road about two miles from the Whitewater Country Club.
Wrestler Benoit dead in apparent murder-suicide
MIAMI (Reuters) - Professional wrestling superstar Chris Benoit was found dead along with his wife and 7-year-old son in what police believe was a murder-suicide, authorities said on Tuesday.
Benoit and his wife and young son were discovered on Monday afternoon inside their home in Fayetteville, Georgia, an Atlanta suburb.
Investigators have not disclosed how the three died but said they were not seeking any suspects outside the home where Benoit apparently took his own life after killing his wife and son.
Benoit connected to suspected steroid company
06/27/2007 10:15 AM - The Albany County, N.Y., district attorney's office said Benoit had received deliveries from a Florida-based company charged with selling performance-enhancing drugs.,
The WWE says reports speculating that steroids played a role in the apparent murder-suicide of professional wrestler Chris Benoit, whom police say killed his wife and son before taking his own life, are "sensationalistic" and are not supported by evidence in the case.
But a link emerged connecting Benoit to a Florida company charged with selling performance-enhancing drugs, as the Albany County, N.Y., district attorney's office said Benoit had received deliveries from the pharmacy. And prosecutors, lacking a suicide note and lacking a motive, still want to know if side effects from performance-enhancing drugs could possibly explain what might have caused Benoit to kill two members of his family and take his own life.Toxicology test results may not be available to investigators for weeks. As for whether steroids played a role in the crime, Fayette County, Ga. District Attorney Scott Ballard said: "We don't know yet. That's one of the things we'll be looking at."

DA: Wrestler's Son May Have Died in Chokehold
Investigators said they did not have a motive for the Chris Benoit family murder spree, but they did have new clues in the case and a chilling timeline of how, where and when the professional wrestler took the life of his wife and 7-year-old son.
Two days before Benoit and his family were found dead in an apparent murder-suicide, Benoit told co-workers his wife and son had food poisoning and were throwing up, according to World Wrestling Entertainment.
Nancy Benoit, Benoit's wife of seven years who had also performed with the World Wrestling champion in the ring, was in the upstairs office Friday when she was attacked, investigators said.
